ASFALTO SELVAGEM: UMA NARRATIVA EM CRISE

Abstract:This article aims to analyze the path of Engraçadinha, protagonist of Asfalto Selvagem, novel written by Nelson Rodrigues. With base in the literary text, in the filmic adaptation Engraçadinha, directed by Haroldo Barbosa, and in
texts by Sigmund Freud and critics that analyze the function of the unpleasant in the Brazilian writer's texts, this work puts in evidence the crises provoked by subject's duality and for the family's exposition. As well as the eroticism and the sexuality contradict the social tradition and potentiate the crisis, the religiosity appears to restore the order and the morality lost. Starting from the demonstrations here presented, the social critic and an uncomfortable literature, both against the entertainment, characterize Nelson Rodrigues' work as a
chronicle of habits of the Brazilian society of the years 1940 and 1950. Besides, to the author fair fits highlights for the daring project of confronting the social hypocrisy with the representation of an unmasked family, for the relativization of
the morals and of the good habits, for an imperfect, but more real society.
